Clothing Measurements

For Clothing – all measurements in inches

Measure the chest (for shirts, jackets, and coveralls) at the largest point.  Wrap the tape measure around the person’s chest approximately 3 inches below the armpits.  Keep the tape measure loose, leaving room for movement.  Record the measurement and refer to the chart below.

Measure the circumference of the neck (for shirts) loosely.  Record the measurement and refer to the chart.

Measure the sleeve length(for shirts, jackets, and coveralls) from the middle of the back at the base of the neck to the wrist.  Record the measurement and refer to the chart.

Measure the waist (for pants, jeans, and overalls) at the where the person will be wearing the pants or jeans (some people wear their pants higher, some lower than normal) As a general rule men should measure just below their navel.  Record the measurement and refer to the chart.  If you are measuring a women for pants in a men’s size, measure the women’s hips at the widest point.  Measure the inseam from the base of the crotch to the top of the foot.  For bib-overalls that will be worn over normal clothing add 4 inches to the waist measurement.

Please remember to measure loose to allow for movement and shrinkage.  All manufacturer’s have slightly different size patterns so fit cannot be guaranteed.
